"Sentinels of Granite; Regiments of Gettysburg"

On Thursday September 18th, Phil Avila will present a paper on the monuments at
Gettysburg at the United Irish Cultural Center, 2700 45th Avenue, San Francisco.

Phil will present approximately seventy slides of the monuments at the Gettysburg
battlefield and will explain their significance, with particular attention to the fighting on July
2nd 1863.

Phil Avila is an ardent Civil War researcher who has long been associated with the various
Civil War Round Tables in California and has addressed our group several times.  In
addition to speaking engagements throughout California, Phil has attended the Civil War
Institute of Gettysburg eight times and the majority of the West Coast Round Table
Symposia, and has visited most of the major battle fields of the Civil War.
